Register Outbound Goods

Register outgoing inventory

To register outgoing goods, open Outbound, scan the barcode or type the product ID and enter the quantity. If the product sits in more than one storage location, the app shows how much is in each so you take it from the right one. Stock updates immediately.

Press the "Out" button on the main screen to register outbound goods.

What this gives you

  • Stock goes down on every device as soon as goods are booked out
  • When a product lies on several locations, you split the quantity over them
  • Scan the barcode instead of typing the product ID
  • Every outbound movement is recorded with product, location, quantity, moment and device
  • Works on phones, Android scanners and in the browser
  • You see what is left in stock before you promise a delivery

Picking from more than one location

When a product is stored in several locations, the app cannot guess which one you took the goods from, so it asks. It shows every location holding the product together with its current quantity, and you divide the amount you are shipping over them. The total has to match the quantity you entered before the registration can be submitted, which prevents the common error of booking stock out of a location that was already empty. If the product sits in only one location, this step is skipped entirely.

Why outbound accuracy matters most

Of all warehouse movements, outbound is the one where mistakes are most expensive. An unregistered shipment leaves phantom stock in the system, which causes a picker to walk to an empty shelf and, worse, causes you to promise a customer goods you no longer have. Registering the movement at the moment the goods leave, rather than at the end of the day from a stack of notes, is the single habit that keeps inventory accuracy high. The transaction history then tells you afterwards which location an order was picked from and by whom.

What to do when the shelf is empty

Sooner or later a picker walks to a location the system says holds stock and finds nothing there. Do not simply take the goods from somewhere else and carry on, because the phantom quantity stays in the system and the same walk happens again next week. Count that location straight away and correct it to zero, then pick from the location that does hold the product and register the outbound movement against it. Two minutes of counting at the moment of discovery removes an error that would otherwise cost a walk on every future order.

Frequently asked questions

What if the product is stored on more than one location?

The app shows every location that holds the product with its current quantity, and you divide the outbound quantity over them. The total has to match the quantity you entered before you can submit.

Can I register outbound goods on an iPhone?

Yes, through the web app in Safari or Chrome. It is the full application rather than a reduced version, and it scans barcodes with the iPhone camera.

Can I see afterwards what left the warehouse?

Yes. Every outbound registration is stored in the transaction history with the product, location, quantity, moment and device, so you can trace which location an order was taken from.
